Mt Buller Primary School kids sing for audience
By PAM ZIERK-MAHONEY
Nestled high in the snowy mountains, Buller Primary School is a place where learning, friendship and adventure come together.
Inspired by the students’ own song celebrating 60 years of the school, this poem captures the joy of school life at Buller, from classroom lessons and playground fun to shared experiences in the snow.
It is a tribute to the special memories, friendships and community spirit that make Buller such a unique place to learn and grow.
The song was sung to the tune of ‘Proud Mary’ by Tina Turner.
The 60th anniversary celebrations will conclude at the end of the third term, towards the end of September, with a surprise self-written play to be performed at a special celebration event.
Date to be advised.
Song written by Primary School students Aramina, Donavan and Saxon.
‘Buller in Winter’
When winter paints the mountain white,
And snowflakes sparkle in the light,
We head to school with cheerful hearts,
Ready to learn and make our starts.
We study maths and learn each day,
And sometimes spelling leads the way,
While outside, falling soft and slow,
The Buller snow continues to grow.
At Buller, snow keeps drifting down,
Around the school, around the town,
And in our classrooms, warm and bright,
We learn and dream from morn till night.
At playtime in the sports hall cold,
We skip and run, both brave and bold,
With laughter ringing through the air,
Making memories everywhere.
When school is done and lessons end,
Adventure waits with every friend,
In Airzone games or snowy play,
We share our smiles throughout the day.
Together on the mountain high,
Beneath the wide and wintry sky,
We make good friends and learn what’s best,
At Buller School we’re truly blessed.
For snow may fall and seasons pass,
But friendships built in every class
Will stay with us as years go by,
Like Buller’s peaks against the sky.
