This season marked the 16th year of Chicks Who Shred, with the Mt Buller event being the third stop on the 2026 tour.

“Seeing women come together, cheer each other on and enjoy the mountains is what makes these days so special,” marketing and sales manager Jassie Salveson said.

“Chicks Who Shred isn’t a fundraiser – it’s a community initiative designed to make snowsports more accessible and welcoming for women.

“We do run a raffle at each event, with all proceeds going directly back into the program,” Jassie said.

“These funds help cover the costs of running future events and allow us to continue offering free sessions year after year.

“Mt Buller is always one of our favourite stops on the calendar, and this year was no exception.

“Despite some wild winter weather, more than 70 women rugged up and joined us for an incredible two days on the mountain.”

The day kicked off at 9.30am at the top of ABOM Chair, where riders split into small groups for all-mountain and park sessions led by our volunteer crew.

It was fantastic to see women of all ages riding together, encouraging one another and giving massive ‘woo girl’ energy across the mountain.

We wrapped up the day with presentations and prize giveaways at Spurs Restaurant.

A huge thank you goes to our generous sponsors ROJO Outerwear, Völkl, CAPiTA Snowboards, Union Bindings, Smith, POW Gloves, Auski, Joey’s Footbeds and Brewer’s Orchard, who donated an incredible range of prizes.

Awards recognised the spirit of the day as much as progression – from the loudest ‘woo girl’ to skiers and snowboarders who pushed their comfort zones.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Mt Buller for continuing to support our program and helping us create an inclusive, encouraging space for women on the mountain season after season.

“We can’t wait to be back again next winter.”

Chicks Who Shred is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit community organisation that hosts free ski and snowboard sessions throughout the Victorian and NSW Alps, creating a welcoming, supportive and social environment where women can build confidence, make new friends and challenge themselves on the mountain.

At its heart, Chicks Who Shred is about building community and encouraging more women to enjoy the mountains together.

Participants must be at an intermediate level to participate.
