Mountains of opportunity at Mt Hotham

WELL here we are season 2025!

As with most years there is always a heap of banter around snow! Will it be good? Will it be bad?

Sure there is modelling and predictions and I always get asked and for those who have followed my commentary over the years, the answer is "Ask me at the end of season". This still remains as my catch cry!

Now that we are over all that, what is happening at Hotham/Dinner Plain?

A couple of major developments that will positively impact experiences are well underway and will be launched for this coming season.

At Hotham we will see the opening of the new Hotham Hub - a government funded destination for primarily the growing day visitor market.

There's a great new lounge to get out of the weather, onsite hire and also a cafe!

It has been a long time coming but as with many projects, resourcing, cost of materials have presented challenges over the years

It currently looks like opening for the school holidays in early July.

The locale will also support snowmaking to maximise the experience.

Developments at the Big D area include new terrain park features with a move of the ski school up to the Hotham Central area of the resort.

Down the road at our sister resort Dinner Plain we see some major developments for the 'pea-shooter' toboggan area with dual snowmaking features including new 'snow factory' technology which will allow snowmaking well into the 'plus' degree temps.

Coupled with two snowguns, this should ensure some great cover all season long.

So, investment continues at both our resorts up here, just waiting for you to arrive.

Resorts thrive on visitation and our businesses up here are continually looking to offering something new so your experience evolves over time.

At the time of writing this (just before season 2025) there are a number of changes underway with some of our food/beverage businesses that will all be confirmed in my next column.

We look forward to seeing you up here for mountains of fun in 2025.

Till next month, get those snow dances on.
