Chumpy remembered for fourth year

The annual ‘Shred for Chumpy’ was held on 8 July with many making to the event and gathering in the Village Square at 9am to remember Mt Buller Legend and World Champion Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin.

The Shred for Chumpy event was held the first year following his death during the winter season on Buller. Chumpy died while shallow diving on the Gold Coast, Queensland where he had made his permanent home in 2020.

However, Chumpy grew up in Mansfield and riding on Mt Buller slopes; since his passing in 2020 thousands have paid tribute to him on the slopes each year.

Each year snowboarders and skiers share stories and stoke for Chumpy doing a lap or two – with fresh snow this event was once again a hit on 8 July 2025.
