Sun Peaks offers everything for that perfect ski resort holiday

FROM the on-mountain experience to the friendly ski through village, families love Sun Peaks.

One of our all-time favourite resorts in Canada’s beautiful British Columbia has got to be Sun Peaks.

It’s a fun, family-friendly resort with a beautiful mountain community and charming ski-in/ski-out pedestrian style village, but as Canada’s second largest ski area with 4270 acres of terrain spread over three mountains it offers skiers and riders anything and everything they want – from deep steeps, long cruisers, glades and ten acres of terrain parks with distinct zones for all abilities.

Read on for our hit list of what we love about Sun Peaks and then round up your shred crew.

1. INCREDIBLE SNOW CONDITIONS:

Snow conditions at Sun Peaks are super consistent and reliable, and with such a huge area within its boundaries, you’ll feel like you have the mountains to yourself.

The grooming is award-winning and the terrain is varied, catering to all ages and abilities, making Sun Peaks a great choice for multi-generational snow holidays and friends with different levels of experience.

Trails flow down from Sun Peaks’ three mountains, Tod Mountain, Sundance and Mount Morrisey into the ski-in/ski-out village below, making it easy to meet up in between runs.

2. THE VIEWS:

Sun Peaks averages over 2000 hours of sunshine each year, providing many bluebird days and picture-perfect views of the resort as you ski.

Riding Sun Peaks’ Crystal or Burfield chairlifts under sunny skies is a scenic experience that will take your breath away.

Point out nearby Dunn Peak to the north or Shuswap Lake to the east, and make sure you stop along the way to take it all in.

5 Mile or Blue Line are excellent beginner and intermediate descents to capture the biggest Sun Peaks views, and remember to check the grooming boards for the smoothest options down.

3. ENDLESS OFF MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE:

There’s a lot to do off the slopes with tons of both outdoor and indoor activities to keep everyone smiling.

Dog sledding, ice-fishing, snowshoeing, axe-throwing, sleigh rides and catching a local ice-hockey game will give you an authentic Canadian experience.

But our favourite thing to do once the lifts close for the day is to head to the tube park, which is open until 7pm each day and guarantees huge smiles and good times for any age!

4. THE VILLAGE:

Sun Peaks’ beautiful Ski Through Village has a European mountain town feel and offers a wide range of ski-in/ski-out accommodation options, catering to couples, small families, or larger groups.

The village has 45+ shops and restaurants, so there is plenty of great options for après.
