Ah, Mount Hotham Alpine Resort, where winter dreams come true - or at least where they come a little slower this year.
It’s not that the snow season decided to ghost us, it’s just taking its sweet time making an entrance.
In the meantime there has been some great activities on offer such as glamping and fondue at Alpine Nature Experience, the return of the Snow Ball at Jack Frost and for something completely different hat burning workshops at Big Muster Distilling Co.
Yes it’s been a mild introduction to winter 2026.
As the calendar flips to July, we all held our breath.
Instead of snowflakes, we got a few timid flurries that seemed more interested in playing peekaboo than covering the slopes.
It was as if the snow gods were stuck in a meeting, discussing the finer points of a winter strategy, however by the time you read this we should have some more of the white stuff on the ground!
July The Month of Snowy Resolutions
July is not just any month; it’s the month when the snow finally decides to make a grand entrance worthy of a Logie Award.
We’re expecting good falls that could rival the biggest award there is!
The forecast is seeing cold nights which means it will be conducive to snowmaking!
So the resort is now buzzing with a level of certainty.
School holidays represent some of our busiest times on the mountain.
Bookings are reasonably solid for 2026.
Accommodation options range from ultra luxury (and yes we do see some customers come up with their own cooks and housekeepers) all the way to the lodge market where nights can be had at more budget rate and where some possible life long friendships are formed with other guests.
Our Snowy Future Awaits
So, slow start? Sure. But just like a suspenseful movie, the best is yet to come!
With July, August, and September posturing, with an indication of snowy adventures and cheerful crowds, we can’t help but feel that this year could be a little late to the party, but still has the possibility it could be another for the history books.
The point is, you just never know!
Grab your gear, gather your friends, and let’s make some unforgettable memories on the slopes of Mount Hotham.
Now, who’s ready for some snow?
Snow a little slow to arrive, but it’s coming
