FROM fireworks and freeride, to fluorescent onesies, Falls Creek’s 2025 winter line-up is packed with standout moments on and off the slopes.
It all kicks off with the buzz of opening weekend and carries the energy right through to spring to close out the season.
The Opening Weekend Festival will see the Village Bowl come alive with live music, a street party and Saturday night fireworks.
From there, the action spreads across the mountain as the calendar of events unfold.
Freestyle skiers and snowboarders can expect lights, rails and a lively crowd at the Board Lounge Throwdown on 25 June, kicking off a series of terrain park events before finishing with the jam style format, The Dreamer, on 14 September.
For families, late June marks the start of Night Skiing and Boarding, with Wombat's Ramble lighting up every Wednesday and Saturday.
July adds even more evening excitement with the return of the Thursday night Fireworks Fiesta, bringing extra sparkle to the après scene.
August is packed with highlights.
The Junior Freeride on 9 August gives up-and-coming riders a chance to show what they’ve got, while Chicks Who Shred returns on 17 and 18 August with free coaching sessions for intermediate and advanced female skiers and snowboarders.
Later in the month, freestyle takes centre stage with the Big Air and Storm the Park slopestyle competitions.
Also in August, a community favourite returns: the Kangaroo Hoppet.
Attracting cross-country skiers from all walks of life, it’s the largest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and a true test of skill and endurance.
As spring approaches, so too does The Burton Mystery Series on 31 August, followed by the Father’s Day Park Jam.
Then comes the ever-popular Gay Ski Week Australia, running from 30 August to 8 September, bringing a vibrant and welcoming celebration to the village with themed après and live entertainment.
Falls Creek’s season wraps with a double dose of springtime chaos and colour.
Retro Day returns on 13 September, with locals and visitors donning neon onesies and vintage gear for a throwback day on the slopes.
Then on 5 October, the annual Pond Skim sees brave (or foolish) skiers and snowboarders attempt to skim across an icy pool, often in costume and rarely dry.
It’s the unofficial closing party that is too much fun to miss.
