EACH year at the commencement of the snow season a special Alpine Chapel Memorial Service is held remembering the lives of those who have passed within the past nine months since the end of the previous season.

This June three special mountain people were honoured at this service conducted by Fr Tony Kerin.

Vale Lilian Aldinger April 24, 1935–June 5, 2022:

Lilian Aldinger together with her husband George Aldinger built and owned the Lantern Ski Lodge (now the Duck Inn site) from 1964 until 1995. Lilian's last visit to Mt Buller was in 2018. Lilian was an active member and secretary of the Mt Buller Chamber of Commerce for many years until the sale of Lantern in 1995.

She was always known for being out every day, no matter the weather, walking her beloved dog, sometimes with a bird on her shoulder.

Megan Morling August 3, 1950 to March 25, 2021:

A life time Buller skier:

• parking on the edge of Bourke St in her teenage years in the 60s;

• from a shack in the old Sawmill in the 70s;

• from a farm house in the Delatite Valley in the 80s;

• as a member of Benmore Ski Club from the 1990s.

Megan missed her chance to ski free at 70 as dementia had taken hold but was able to ski with all her three grandchildren.

Megan was a partner to Paul Crane (president of the Benmore Ski Club) for 22 years and said at her memorial the mountains, skiing, Buller and Benmore brought them together.

Stephen Morrice – January 14, 1949 – October 19, 2021:

Stephen along with his wife Michele were the managers of Ajax Lodge for many years. He was also well known and remembered for his renowned and prize winning fruit puddings and cakes.

• Daryl Gallagher – AO service to snowsports, Olympic Charge de Affairs, VSA president, Benmore president (instrumental in interschools);

• Barry Cooper – MBRA president;

• Cliff Restarrick – MBRA treasurer, CSRIO president;

• Peter Dyson – Yuredla president (John Dyson's father);

• Bill Crowther – MBRA president, Double B president;

• Nick Regos – University Ski Club, VSA;

• Ian Blair – CSIRO member, MBRA committee member;

• Ian Parfutt– MBRA committee member;

• Alex Weir – M Ski Club member;

* Geoffrey Haggard (2019) foundation member of Double B Ski Club;

* Bill Crowther (2020) foundation member and past president of Double B Ski Club. He was a member of the Mt Buller Committee of Management in the late 1960s and the Mt Buller Ratepayers' Association in the 1970s;

* Brian Adey (2021) foundation and past secretary of the Double B Ski Club;

* Ian Hore–Lacy (2021) foundation member of Double B Ski Club.
