MARCH is set to be very busy in the area, with a wide variety of events on offer in partnership with Mansfield Shire Council.

"Events in Mansfield are well and truly back in March," said Economic Development Officer – Tourism & Events Gareth MacDonald.

The Stock Dog Spectacular is highly anticipated and will draw in working stock dog enthusiasts from all over Australia.

Also on the program is the Merrijig Rodeo, whose program promises plenty of action, including the bull ride, which features last year's winner and local cowboy, Will Purcell.

March will be full of firsts too, with the Mansfield Pottery Festival set to happen on the Labour Day weekend this year aiming to bring lovers of clay together.

Lovers of the Great Victorian Rail trail will also be treated to a scenic social ride on the Tour de Trail.

"The range of events on offer in March reflect the diversity in our community and feature artists, farmers, sports and culture," said Mayor Cr James Tehan.

"I can't think of anywhere else where you could be part of a stock dog challenge, rodeo, pottery festival and a scenic ride along the rail trail all in one weekend," Cr Tehan said.

"Then the following weekend witness world class mountain bike freeriding, it really is quite remarkable what's on offer."

The Highline Mountain Bike Festival will showcase some of the most spectacular riders in the country in a family–friendly and fun–filled event.

Also drawing attention is the Mansfield Readers and Writers Festival guest authors Margaret Hickey, Gabriel Bergmoser, Anson Cameron and Belinda Crawford.

"We have been working closely with all the event organisers to make sure they have what they need to be successful," said Mr MacDonald.

"March will also see the debut of our 'Soundfield' system that was purchased with funding from the State Governments Community Activation and Social Isolation Initiative.

"Those with hearing impairments will be able to enjoy the event as much as everyone else.

"This will be setup as part of the Mansfield Readers & Writers Festival and we are so excited to be able to offer this to the community."

Cr Tehan said, "March really highlights what can be achieved when we all work together to make events happen and we encourage anyone with event ideas to get in touch to discuss them with Council."
