MANSFIELD Shire Council has contributed to the interior fit–out design of the Mansfield Historical Museum.
The museum is a collaboration between the Mansfield Historical Society (MHS), Mansfield Cultural Heritage & Arts Centre (MCHAC) and Bendigo Bank to showcase Mansfield's historical collection.
The interior fit–out is proposed to feature museum quality lighting and display cabinetries, which the funding will enable.
Mayor Cr James Tehan said the grant was used to boost tourism offerings in the new station precinct, of which the new museum is a key element.
"This funding will enable the museum project team to progress the design for the museum fit–out to enable display of its collection of memorabilia and artefacts currently in storage.
"Once completed, it will provide locals and visitors with an exceptional viewing experience and the opportunity to learn about the historical significance of the collection," Cr Tehan said.
Design of the new museum's fit–out will commence following an open tender process.
The Mansfield Historical Museum will be located at the Mansfield Station Precinct.
