July marks a year since the opening of Alpine Resorts Victoria’s Hotham Snowplay Hub at Wire Plain, and what a difference it has made.
The purpose-built facility enhances the experience of families and first-time visitors seeking alpine adventure beyond the ski slopes.
Located just 4km from Hotham Central, the Wire Plain Precinct has long been a popular spot for snowplay and mountain exploration.
With its snow-dusted gums and scenic trails, the area offers a peaceful, immersive alpine atmosphere, perfect for tobogganing, snowshoeing, or simply enjoying the magic of a first snowfall.
It’s a true winter wonderland for all ages.
The addition of the Hotham Snowplay Hub provides a warm (heated floors) and accessible base for those exploring the area, complete with convenient amenities and services, including visitor information with local tips, resort updates and everything else you need to know.
In addition to internal features, the hub also features an outdoor area with plenty of sunny seating, as well as snowmaking infrastructure to enhance snow cover on the toboggan slope, even during periods of light natural snowfall.
To keep visitors well-equipped and fueled for adventure, the hub has two local businesses expanding the service offering at Wire Plain.
Hoys has opened its sixth rental location on-site, providing easy access to snowplay and tobogganing gear.
Meanwhile, the Hub Café, powered by the team behind Big Muster Distilling Co, is serving warm drinks and hearty bites - a range of pies, sausage rolls, Panini’s, muffins, curries and dumplings - to keep the energy high and the fingers toasty.
The hub also serves as a central meeting point for some of Hotham’s most unique experiences.
From husky sled tours and snowmobile rides to gourmet alpine dining, snowshoeing adventures, and cross country skiing lessons, the Hotham Snowplay Hub is the perfect launchpad for exploring the mountain beyond the downhill slopes.
