As the snow season approaches, Falls Creek Alpine Resort is once again proving that behind its breathtaking slopes lies a vibrant, tight-knit community of small businesses going above and beyond to create memorable experiences for visitors.
This year, a strong focus on collaboration, local sourcing, and fresh ideas is helping the village thrive - while giving guests even more reasons to explore beyond the ski runs.
Across the resort, businesses are embracing regional partnerships and showcasing products from nearby producers.
At Alpine Woodsmoke Apartments, guests are welcomed with thoughtful new additions, including premium grooming essentials from Australian made Mr. Smith, soothing blends from Love Tea, and delicious Rich Glen Olive Oil - bringing a taste of regional Victoria into the alpine setting.
Local collaboration is also front and centre at Elk Apartments, where guests will enjoy new inclusions such as Honeybird Coffee from nearby Mount Beauty, Tea Tonic organic teas, and luxurious LEIF botanical amenities throughout the accommodation.
In fact, at least eight venues in Falls Creek use Honeybird Coffee, locally grown tea, and Australian made guest amenities.
These partnerships not only support regional producers but also give visitors a deeper connection to the surrounding High Country.
Food lovers will find plenty to delight in at Halley’s Hole in the Wall, a proudly family-owned and operated café window that champions local suppliers such as Merchant Coffee Roasters.
Known for its warm hospitality and ever-changing menu, Halley’s serves up hearty homemade favourites like chicken dumplings, spinach and feta parcels, and “Joshie’s lasagne”.
Their wonton soup, featuring home-grown bok choy, is already shaping up to be a must-try this winter.

Meanwhile, accommodation continues to evolve with exciting developments.
Cooroona Alpine Lodge is putting the finishing touches on its stunning new Skyline Penthouse apartments, set to open this season after three years of renovations.
Boasting sweeping valley views and spacious, modern interiors, the penthouses represent the next chapter in Falls Creek’s accommodation offerings.
Lakeside has a new look entry, and room enhancements giving guests that sweet home away from home feeling.
Retail also has a unique twist.
I Dream of Snow, Australia’s only vintage ski wear store, will open its doors over the King’s Birthday long weekend, offering visitors a nostalgic journey through alpine fashion - perfect for those looking to add a touch of retro flair to their snow wardrobe.
Dining and après-ski options are also turning up the heat.
Both Ory’s and Sorella are launching into the season with daily Happy Hours from 5–6pm, giving visitors the perfect excuse to unwind after a day on the slopes.
Adding a playful twist, The Powderkeg is introducing a morning cocktail hour from 11am to midday - ideal for those who prefer their après to start a little earlier.
1550 café just across the path will of course continue to provide the G rated morning menu.
For a truly memorable evening, Feathertop Lodge will host weekly traditional ASADO nights, bringing the rich flavours of South American open-fire cooking to the mountains.
It’s just another example of how Falls Creek businesses are expanding their offerings to create unique dining experiences.
Catering to diverse dietary needs is another priority across the resort.
Spudshak continues to impress with its predominantly gluten-free menu, offering a variety of vegetarian, vegan, halal, and gluten-free options - ensuring everyone can enjoy a hearty snack without compromise.
Wine enthusiasts can head to Lakeside Bar and Eatery, where the all-Victorian wine list has been expanded to include standout additions like the highly sought-after, award-winning Wine by Farr - further showcasing the state’s exceptional wine regions.

And for families, there’s plenty of fun to be had beyond skiing.
Snonuts Donuts has introduced a brand-new two-step viewing platform, allowing kids (and adults!) to safely watch the mesmerising donut-making process through a specially installed glass window.
It’s a simple but delightful addition that adds a touch of magic to a sweet treat.
Not keen on the drive?
That’s ok, FallsBus, has confirmed departures from Melbourne and Albury for their 14th year.
In fact, from the school holidays onwards, they have 10 weekly services from Melbourne CBD and Tullamarine Airport along with double daily departures from Falls Creek to Melbourne from Friday to Monday offering fantastic availability of seats between Melbourne and Falls Creek.
There’s even a red eye if you’re up for it.

Central Snowports has a new Wombats location at the Halleys Comet Chair with overnight storage.
No more lugging those skis back up to your accommodation.
They have also installed a state of the art Winterseiger Scout automated tuning machine for the most accurate, customisable tunes available in Falls Creek.
You can find that at their Winterhaven store.
Visitors will also get their first look at the long anticipated art installation, The Flower of the Alpine Sun.
An immersive, elevated pathway located near Cloud 9, where visitors walk through the sculpture itself and take in the majestic multi valley views.
With world-class skiing, snowboarding, cross country trails, and scenic alpine walks, Falls Creek already offers a wealth of outdoor activities.
Add in snow play, tobogganing, more dining experiences than can fit into one trip, and now an even stronger network of innovative, community-minded businesses, and it’s clear the resort is more than just a winter destination - it’s a thriving alpine village.
This season, Falls Creek is reminding visitors that small businesses play a big role in creating unforgettable holidays.
By supporting each other and working with regional producers, they’re not only enriching the guest experience but also strengthening the broader High Country and regional Victorian community - one cup of coffee, meal, and mountain view at a time.
