Adams Estate Agents, the major naming-rights sponsor of the Adams Calcutta Event and Adams Ski and Golf Day, has thanked all supporting sponsors and prize donors, particularly Buller Ski Lifts for its tireless work and financial support.
The annual event is much more than an opportunity for friends from across the local community to share a day of racing on the snow.
It is an important fundraiser for Mansfield and Merrijig schools, helping young people throughout the region enjoy skiing and snowboarding as part of their winter sports programs.
Since beginning in the late 1990s, the event has contributed more than $500,000 to local schools, including more than $47,000 this year.
A total of 24 teams of four took to the short ski course, completing two runs each to begin the day.
Steve Parry, competing with the Radar Raiders team, earned a notable mention after recording a difference of just 0.009 seconds between his two ski runs.
The leading teams in the ski section were Wells Fargo, XTM Does Bluff View Race Club and Whitelaw Flynn Lawyers Team 2.
Teams then travelled to Mansfield Golf Club to complete 18 holes.
Wells Fargo recorded the best combined skiing and golfing score, followed by Summit Syndicate and Radar Raiders.
“The teams reflect the great community we have here in Mansfield and at Mt Buller,” Mark Adams said.
“We have fathers and sons, friends, local businesses, industry partners, government and sporting representatives all cheering one another on, along with plenty of healthy competition on the snow and the greens.”
Mr Adams specifically thanked sponsors Alpine Resorts Victoria, K2 and Black Mountain, Kaboodle Kitchens, XTM, Jandys and Whitelaw Flynn, along with many others.
“A special thank you to Mansfield Golf Club, which has been part of our event for the past 27 years, and for its ongoing support in helping local schools participate in skiing,” Mr Adams said.
“The success of the event comes from knowing local schoolchildren will again be able to ski with their schools on our fantastic mountain as part of their winter sports programs.
“The warm feeling participants get from supporting this great cause each year makes it all worthwhile, knowing the funds directly help local schools enjoy our great mountain,” he said.
