Switzerland Zermatt

Sitting at an altitude of over 3880 metres with the mighty Matterhorn as its backdrop, Zermatt is Switzerland’s highest ski resort. And being so high means skiing and snowboarding 365 days of the year. The resort also has the worlds second biggest lift-served vertical drop of 1000m on the Theodul Glacier. Zermatt incorporates three snow riding areas with the perfect ratio of gentle cruisy slopes through to thrilling steeps to give all abilities an excellent selection of trails. Powder hounds and seasoned riders can carve and shred the black runs and the expansive off-piste terrain. Ski and board across 360 kilometres of sublime blue, red, black and yellow runs and there’s also Europe’s highest cable car that allows visitors to venture into Italy.

Internationally renowned, Zermatt has a unique stylish village with classy restaurants, chalets and boutique shops while still retaining a provincial spirit. The pure essence of this breathtaking part of the world is even more enhanced as there is no noise or pollution from traffic. No cars are allowed in the village, all transport is either electronic taxis or traditional horse drawn sleighs. It’s no wonder Zermatt is one of the most popular winter resorts in the world.
