ORTHO Ski is a boot fitting service focused purely on skiing.

Its expertise lies in resolving chronic boot fitting problems and creating the best performing boots you've ever had.

"We have developed a boot fitting assessment model based on a skier's biomechanics, anatomy and skiing experiences, rather than a simplistic fit–based approach," industrial designer/boot fitter Ray Wills said.

"This allows us to tailor boots and ski orthotics to achieve the right balance of comfort and performance.

"We have more than 30 years combined experience in the ski industry working as on–mountain boot fitters across the world and we have seen what feet do in ski boots.

"We want our clients to love skiing as much as we do and that all starts with the perfect boots for your body."

No other single item has as big an impact on your skiing experience as ski boots do.

This is why Ortho Ski offer a range of boots within their clinics that they can customise to suit your needs.

Custom boots are ideal for people with chronic foot and leg issues as they allow complete customisation of shape and fit to accommodate the foot's complex needs.

Ray worked for many years at resorts such as Thredbo, Falls Creek and overseas at Big White and San Juan's of Colorado in Telluride.

With 15 years' experience behind him and going back and forth, then along with his partner Krista, they decided to do something about more accurate fitting of ski boots.

Krista had 10 years working in Canada and went on to study podiatry with the intent to working with ski boots and fitting.

In 2020 they opened their Mt Buller outlet in the newly built Kooroora complex.

"We worked through two winters of COVID lockdowns and restrictions but thank goodness we are back for this season," Ray said.

Ray maintains the correct fitting of boots relies on understanding biomechanics and how the foot works; gaining the optimum fitting boot and giving the client a boot that works for them.

Together Ray and Krista's experience can gain a clear understanding of what their customers require when creating that correctly fitted ski boot.

"We try to have an experienced podiatrist on the floor each day for customers to be assessed, but that sometimes means changing the routine on a daily basis; this ensures that any changes will give you good maximum benefit," Ray said.

"Clients get results while on the hill, often the same day, there is no going back and forth."

Clients who have an assessment are eligible to claim the assessing and product on health insurance.
