Carollers are tuning up, make sure you are too

EVERYTHING is in readiness for this Saturday's Wangaratta Lions Club Carols by Candlelight in the grounds of Wangaratta's Holy Trinity Cathedral.

The much anticipated event for the entire family is scheduled to run from 6pm to 9.30pm to be followed by a 30 minute sound and light show.

Lions club president Mick Everard said it will be the surest sign that life has returned to normal after the COVID–19 lockdowns.

"We're so happy to be back after two years of cancellations and to be able to facilitate this event for the entire community," he said.

"North East Media kindly made us a charity partner with their Wangaratta Marathon and Fun Run which allowed us to fund this event.

"The carols are a truly all encompassing event that stretches across all age groups and demographics; it's a feel good event that everyone can relate to and it brings everyone together as a community.

"And it's free."

The evening will be hosted by the very entertaining husband and wife duo Alison Comensoli and Rick Harnwell, with an array of talented musicians and vocalists accompanied by the Wangaratta Concert Band conducted by Laura Vincent and Doug McGregor.

Performers include the Sing Australia Choir, Combined Schools Choir, Geoff Nicholson, Antonia Maher, Neil Foster, Sarah Holmes Brown, Chloe Gibson, Debbie Rosicka, Jeff Nye, John van Riet, Phillip Taylor and Tahli Gibson.

The list of carols includes classics old and new such as Have Yourself a Very Merry Christmas, Mary, Did You Know?, Feiliz Navidad, Away in a Manger, Hark, The Herald Angels Sing, While Shepherds Watched, Joy To The World, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Once In Royal David's City, The First Noel, Deck The Halls, All I Want For Christmas, O Come All Ye Faithful, Silent Night, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, Jingle Bells, Rudolph The Red–Nosed Reindeer, Angels We Have Heard on High, O Holy Night, We Three Kings of Orient Are and, of course, We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

And if you don't know all the words to every carol don't worry, this Friday's Chronicle will include a liftout with all the lyrics you will need on the night.

It's time for the entire family to have a merry Christmas so don't miss out.
