The season’s final month is anything but quiet in the Victorian alps.
September at Falls Creek and Hotham is packed with racing, freestyle showdowns, big community celebrations and enough retro ski gear to make the lift lines look like the 80s never ended.
Falls Creek kicks off the month with Retro Weekend from 6–7 September.
Expect vintage skiwear, throwback tunes and plenty of photo-worthy moments as the village embraces the spirit of past decades.
Running alongside is the Burton Mystery Series, a free-to-enter snowboard jam open to all abilities, and on 7 September the Father’s Day Mini Pipe Masters presented by Burton brings a family-friendly edge to the freestyle scene.
Freestyle riders have two big dates to mark down: the Oakley Freestyle Series Bandwagon Banked Slalom on 13 September, followed by The Dreamer slopestyle competition on 14 September.
Both events promise creative lines, standout tricks and a lively crowd.
Hotham joins the party with Pride Weekend from 4-7 September, filling the village and slopes with rainbow flags, live music and après parties.
Then on 13 September it’s time for Hotham’s own Retro Day, with skiers and boarders digging out their brightest onesies and vintage gear for a day of nostalgia and long spring turns.
Falls Creek will wrap up spring events on 5 October with the legendary Pond Skim.
Part spectacle, part competition, it sees costumed skiers and snowboarders attempt to glide across an icy pool while an enthusiastic crowd cheers them on.
If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to head up, this is it.
Spring events deliver colour, competition and a finale worth travelling for, and once the lifts stop turning in early October, the mountains will fall quiet until next winter.
