Let the 2025 snow season begin

THERE'S nothing quite like the magic of Opening Weekend at Mt Hotham - this year was one to remember, and I’m thrilled to officially welcome you to the 2025 snow season!

With 70cm of fresh snow blanketing our mountain and an impressive snow depth of 59cm, the resort has transformed into a true winter wonderland.

From first lifts to the Hotham Stakeholder Associations Centenary dinner, the mountain came alive with joy, laughter, and the spirit of community.

Five lifts are now spinning, and 22 trails are open - the best early-season conditions we’ve seen in several years!

Families and snow lovers alike enjoyed hot chocolates, roasted marshmallows and toasted s’mores, and shared the simple joy of being back in the snow.

We were honoured to open the season with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, delivered with deep wisdom and warmth by respected Gunaikurnai Elder, Aunty Sandra.

Her presence reminded us of the rich cultural significance of this land and the importance of connection - to Country, to community, and to each other.

We’re thrilled to welcome families to the resort these school holidays.

Our newly upgraded toboggan slope is ready for little adventurers, and the young at heart, to slide into fun.

Just in time for the holidays, we’re also unveiling the brand-new Hotham Snowplay Hub at Wire Plain.

This inviting public space is designed for families and friends to gather, warm up, and enjoy their snow day in comfort.

There’s no shortage of excitement these holidays - from sledding with huskies to snowshoeing through the snow gums, there’s something for everyone.

And don’t miss the fireworks at the Big D, lighting up the sky every Wednesday night during the school holidays, just before night skiing and boarding, thanks to the Ski Lift Company.

Whether you're carving your first turns of the season, building snowmen with the kids, or simply soaking in the crisp mountain air, we are so excited to share this season with you.

The snow gods have smiled on us early, and there’s so much more to come.

On behalf of the entire Mt Hotham team, welcome back!

Let the holiday exploration begin - a time full of adventure, connection, and unforgettable alpine memories.

See you on the slopes!
