Gnomes welcome visitors to Buller

The population of Buller Gnomes has grown again.

Stationed just a few kilometers up the mountain road from the Mirrimbah gates, the family of gnomes appears to have had a slight population explosion recently.

When the Gnomes first appeared in 2003 there were only one or two who stood outside their Gnome Home doorway greeting guests as they travelled to the top.

Now it seems that the Gnomes have gathered many more of their friends and family and all during winter stand proudly outside their treehouse awaiting the arrival of the thousands of visitors on their way to the top and a day on the slopes.

The home was constructed in honor of the precious Mountain Pygmy-possums that call this mountain home.

Many gnome families call Mt Buller home now and can be spotted throughout the Mt Buller village. Alpine Gnomes like to live high up such as the mountains, where snow falls for four months of the year. They also enjoy summer on Mt Buller because they can play with their friends, the Mountain Pygmy-possums, who hibernate during winter.

Visitors are invited to write a letter to the Gnomes and leave in the letterbox next to the treehouse. Letters with a name and return address may just receive a thank you note back again!

Or, if an email address is left then perhaps you may receive an email back – go to gnomes@mtbuller.com.au
