Drone permits required

Drone safety regulatons & permits

ALPINE Resorts Victoria (ARV) is committed to ensuring the safe operation of drones, also known as Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) within the alpine resorts.

Recreational drone use is not permitted, and commercial operators must obtain an ARV Drone Permit to operate.

Permit applications require compliance with strict criteria, including licensing, insurance, and detailed flight planning.

Approval is not guaranteed and may take up to five business days, depending on complexity. Permitted operators must adhere to CASA Drone Safety Rules and resort-specific operational requirements.

This policy safeguards the safety, privacy, and enjoyment of visitors while protecting resort infrastructure and the sensitive alpine environment.

Emergency Services personnel are exempt from permits during active operations.

Stakeholder cooperation is appreciated to ensure safe and responsible drone use across all alpine resorts.

Adams Ski & Golf Day 2025

THE annual Adams Ski & Golf Day is held on Friday 11th July at Mt Buller and the Mansfield Golf Course with the Calcutta Dinner on the 10th July.

This fun event allows teams of 4 to enjoy the sporting attributes of skiing at Buller and playing golf in Mansfield whilst raising money for a worthy cause. The fundraising event first commenced in 1999 to raise money towards Mansfield schools snowsports programs and has now raised in excess of $400,000 which is an outstanding achievement by all involved.

Get some friends together to build your team of 4 and have a fantastic day on the snow, and the fairways, while raising money for the Mansfield schools skiing and snowboarding programs. Money raised will be distributed between Mansfield Primary, Mansfield Secondary, St Mary’s Primary, Merrijig Primary, Jamieson Primary, Steiner School and Mt Buller Sports and Recreation Association to support local kids learning snowsports at Mt Buller enabling many children to participate in snow sports for the very first time.

Consistency rather than speed is the objective around the gates and teams are rewarded for having the smallest time differential between each rider’s two runs. Following the ski and snowboard leg, the teams make their way to the Mansfield Golf Course for a BBQ lunch followed by an Ambrose competition. After the round finishes, presentations include a fantastic array of prizes supported by local businesses.

Boggy Creek Reservoir being refilled

THE Boggy Creek Reservoir is being refilled after repairs were successfully completed ahead of schedule this month.

A number of tears in the dam’s liner were identified in October, and it was necessary for us to empty the dam so panels could be welded over the damaged areas.

This is a long-term solution that will ensure the liner is serviceable for the remainder of its lifespan.

While the dam was empty, we also completed additional maintenance including removing sediment from the bottom and repairs to the aeration system.

Goulburn Murray Water has given us permission to refill the dam outside the terms of our existing water extraction licence, and we continue to work with Government to secure a permanent, year-round licence.

The Burnt Hut Reservoir will continue to supply the resort’s potable water while the dam is refilled. ARV will then move ahead with its plans to decommission the Burnt Hut Reservoir, which is expected to occur during the 2025-26 green season.

BusFleet awarded winter transport contract

ALPINE Resorts Victoria is pleased to announce that BusFleet has won the tender to deliver winter transport services within the resort for the next five years.

The contract includes the provision of the carpark and village shuttles, the RideShare service from carparks to accommodation and the Village Express bus service from Mirimbah into the village.

BusFleet has provided transport services on Mt Buller for the past five years.

Mt Buller’s General Manager, Alan Arthur, said there was significant interest from transport operators to provide these vital services, and BusFleet won the contract from a high-quality field of applicants.

“BusFleet was the standout applicant based on its commitment to customer service, history of performance and value for our stakeholders.”

Mr Arthur said BusFleet had pledged to invest in its fleet of vehicles over the term of the contract, as well as committing to reducing its carbon footprint.

An electric bus will be trialled in the resort this winter.

The transport contract provides jobs for 25 people from the Mansfield region during winter, while BusFleet also employs five full-time staff and five part-time staff year-round who work from its Mansfield and Merrijig bases.

BusFleet Director Neil Geddes said the company was thrilled to be continuing its association with Mt Buller.
