It's become a monthly staple for our community, and the Myrtleford Farmers' Market will celebrate its ninth anniversary this Saturday, 27 September - the perfect outing before settling in at home for the 2025 AFL grand final.

Started by TAFCO and accredited by the Victorian Farmers Market Association, the market provides the region with guaranteed access to quality, freshly harvested produce whilst supporting local farmers and directly putting money back into the local economy.

"The Myrtleford Farmers Market is so much more than a place to buy fresh produce," market coordinator, Louise Benini said.

"It’s become a monthly gathering where stallholders support each other, locals and visitors support them and where we can connect directly with farmers who feed us and I think that is so important.

"Our ninth birthday is thanks to the amazing local farmers and producers, both past and present, who have been the heart of the market since day one.

"The market started with 12 to 15 stalls and has steadily grown...currently we average 25 during winter and by spring, as our seasonal stalls return, the Piazza is full at 34 stalls, with a waitlist.

"There were other markets in the North East, but TAFCO saw a gap in Myrtleford and jumped at the chance to create one for our town and of course to support local farmers.

"Their dedication, passion and seasonal goodness is what has made these nine years possible and we encourage everyone to come and celebrate them this Saturday."

Special guest, Patrizia Simone, is set to host a cooking demonstration for attendees this Saturday, which will be inspired by available spring produce and other finds from the market.

Vegetables are back at this weekend's market with a new face: Dandelion Harvest, from Beechworth.

Music for the masses will be taken care of by local musician, Rudi Katterl, as he takes to the stage on the Piazza steps.

Saturday's Farmers' Market runs from 8:30am to 12:30pm, in the Piazza located in the heart of Myrtleford.
