THERE is a new way of doing things on Mt Buller this year – and it is not only because of COVID-19.
Changes have been made as to how people are being transported around and to and from the resorts.
One of those changes has been the introduction of private taxi drivers and services.
Allan Bolden, Mt Buller Snowgum Xpress, is one of those operators who has been granted a licence as a Ride Share - exactly like an Uber driver, as in Mansfield's and Mt Buller's first fulltime Private Taxi/Limo Service.
“Our services include taking passengers across Mt Buller, to and from all carparks plus up and down Mt Buller from Mansfield, Merrijig and Mirimbah carpark at the entry gate.
“I am also the preferred taxi for the Australian Sled Dogs Adventure Tours,” Allan said.
He can also take passengers for intra village transfers and on an alpine village tour along with private charters to explore the mountain and the surrounding area – including wine, food and brewery tours.
Allan tries to operate 24 hours a day – that is if booked well in advance, can accommodate any time during the day or night to get people to where they need to be on time.
This is the first time that Mt Buller has offered this service with only two operators gaining licences.
”People are extremely happy with private services such as these, and thrilled that they can include a private tour of the village if they have not had time to explore,” Allan said.
