THE annual Adams Ski and Golf Day will be held on the first Friday in July at Mt Buller and the Mansfield Golf Course.
This fun event allows teams of four to enjoy the sporting attributes of skiing at Buller and playing golf in Mansfield while raising money for a worthy cause.
The fundraising event first commenced in 1999 to raise money towards Mansfield schools' Snowsports programs and has now raised upwards of $300,000, an outstanding achievement by all involved.
Skiers and golfers, no matter how good or bad you are, are invited to take part in this year’s event to be held on Friday, July 2.
So Mansfield and regional (and hopefully Melbourne folk by that day) sporties get some friends together to build your team of four and have a fantastic day on the snow, and the fairways, while raising money for the 2021 Mansfield schools' skiing and snowboarding programs.
Money raised will be distributed between Mansfield Primary, Mansfield Secondary, St Mary’s Primary, Merrijig Primary, Jamieson Primary, Steiner School and Mt Buller Sports and Recreation Association to support local kids learning snowsports at Mt Buller enabling many children to participate in snowsports for the very first time
Consistency rather than speed is the objective around the gates on Mt Buller’s Bourke Street for the downhill part of the competition.
Racing starts at 8.30am.
Teams are rewarded for having the smallest time differential between each rider’s two runs.
The ski racing will wrap up around 10am and everyone heads down the mountain to the beautiful Mansfield Golf Club.
Following the ski and snowboard leg, the teams make their way to the Mansfield Golf Course for a barbecue lunch followed by an Ambrose competition.
After the round finishes, presentations occur at the golf club and a vast array of fantastic prizes are given out to the eight different category winners.
These prizes have been generously donated by the 38 secondary sponsors who also make this great event possible.
The RT Edgar Calcutta will be held the night before (Thursday, July 1) at ABOM Moosehead Bar.
Drinks start at 7pm with dinner at 7.30pm - two course set menu for $65 per person (with $10 going directly to the local schools) and drinks at bar prices.
Get your team together the night before to wax your skis, polish your clubs, help raise more money and get into the spirit of the event.
Teams gather at the clubhouse from 11am with an 18-hole midday tee-off. The golf format will be 4-person Ambrose.
Again, it is a team effort with the best ball on each stroke counting.
The day will conclude with presentations at the golf club.
It does not get much better than this – a ski in the morning and a hit of golf with friends in the afternoon and all for a great local cause. Your entry fee includes: transport to and from Mt Buller, resort gate entry, race entry fee, lift pass, ski hire if needed, barbecue lunch and green fees.
