WELL done to the eight ladies who weren't scared off by the prospect of playing par on the back nine on Tuesday.
Continuing to play very well lately, was Susan Kinloch to take the win with a fantastic score of +3.
Next best was Kerry Nicol with 0 and third, Glenis Skinner, –2.
Jenny Rennie picked up nearest the pin on the 18th.
On Wednesday, another good field of 29 were rewarded with stunning conditions for their stableford and Golf League round and some brilliant scores resulted.
But none better than Jenny Rennie, playing off 37, who must have broken a few records with her amazing score off 48 points.
Goodness, the golfing gods must have been well and truly on her side that day and that handicap will take a battering.
Jenny won the day of course and also, Div 2.
Marion Foster had every right to be very disappointed that her score of 43 did not get her the win for Div 2, but certainly was a very admirable runner up.
Meanwhile, Shirley Nolan won Div 1 with 39 points and Sue Parsons snuck in for second on a countback with 36, ahead of Patsy Smiles for 3rd.
Third place in Div 2 went to Jenny Koraus, 37.
Line balls went to Susan Kinloch 35, Marion Sargeant 35, Pam Abbott 35 and Kylie Egan 34.
Nearest the pins went to Linda Terry on the 3rd, Andrea Marsden on the 7th, Shirley Nolan the 16th, Marion Foster 3rd shot on the 17th and Linda Brook 3rd shot on the 18th.
Our Mansfield Golf League is nearing the end as we contested our penultimate round.
Winners were the Spring Chicks 68 over the Tee Party 60; the Nug Nugs 64 over the Long Putters 60; the Underdogs 83 over the Happy Hookers 65 (the Underdogs seemed to think this was reason to celebrate for some reason – can't imagine why?); The Ball Busters 69 defeated the Out of Towners 65 and the Sloggers 68 drew with the Wedgies 68.
The battle for top spot is all down to the Wedgies, the Happy Hookers and the Nug Nugs – but lets see what happens in the final week.
Saturday was getting quite hot and 11 players had a go, with the pins no doubt set in tricky positions, for men's monthly medal.
Glenis Skinner was once again in form and won with 36 points on a countback to Susan Parsons, whose new clubs are clearly doing the job.
Third was Kylie Egan on 34 and a line ball to Sam Bailey also with 34.
The nearest the pins went to Kylie Egan on the 3rd and Sue Parsons on the 16th.
On Friday we played our last round of summer pennant in the round robin with Jubilee, Bright and Myrtleford.
We managed a win against Bright 2/1 but it wasn't quite enough to get ourselves in the top two to play off in the finals.
That privilege goes to Myrtleford who had a great season and Jubilee who only just pipped the other two teams for second spot.
The finals and also–rans will meet up in Jubilee on Friday to wrap up the season.
