Delatite A grade side's match against Wangaratta's City Colt Cricket Club on Saturday saw the hosts get up narrowly to end the season on a high note.
Resuming at 2/26 chasing Colts' modest total of 118, Delatite started well with Lincoln Toy and Chris Anderson doubling the tally.
Toy fell caught behind, followed closely by three more wickets, and the run chase faltered.
Skipper Mitch Copey combined with Anderson to advance the score to 82, when Copey was run out, the score teetering at 6/82.
Anderson pressed on to top score with a fine knock of 40, to be named the player of the match.
Upon his dismissal, Patrick Smith took up the reigns, scoring 27 not out as he steered the side past the target with great support from Archie Storer who registered an important 12 not out.
Stumps were called with the hosts 8/125 – a narrow victory but a victory nonetheless.
This saw the side climb off the bottom of the ladder at the end of the home and away season.
This brings to an end what has been a tough season for the side, which saw a total of 30 different players taking the field in A grade.
The win, however, signals hope for next season when hopefully a more consistent, settled side can get Delatite back up amongst the final four, where it belongs.
