Snow Season Winding Down

As the snow season starts to wind down after what can only be described as a poor snow year, visitors can still find fun spring skiing at the resorts.

Guests experienced the final blast of winter last week with fresh snow resulting in powder skiing for some. This week it will feel more like summer with the weather expected to be sunny and hot across the resorts. Snow conditions will soften early with warm overnight temperatures. Pack the sunscreen and sunnies, you can work on your summer tan early.

The season overall has been good for visitation across the board, without being crazy busy. Up until last week Mt Buller have reported their 6th best season. In NSW Perisher has remained busy the whole season.

For those looking for September snow sliding, here is a quick look at each resort. Plus check your resort’s event calendar and celebrate the last few weeks of the 2023 season.

Buller Ski Lifts confirmed lift operations for skiing and boarding will continue through to Sunday 17 September. All lift passes are currently on sale for up to 40% off, accommodation deals include Kids Stay Free packages and discounts of up to 30% off and resort entry is also discounted for the spring season.

Perisher has 21 lifts operating across the Perisher area from Front Valley, Pretty Valley, Sun Valley and Mount Perisher. The cover is still good on the groomed runs, Towers and Eyre the best and there is more than enough terrain to enjoy the day. Night skiing is still available on Saturday 16th and Tuesday 19th September.

At Thredbo the best skiing is up high on the Cruiser Chair, Antons and Sponars, The Basin area and Friday Flat for beginners. The Supertrail and High Noon runs are both closed. On Saturday night the highly anticipated First Base will see the Alpine Bar in party mode. Featuring Aussie DJ legends Sneaky Sound System, the event is set to draw some big numbers to Thredbo to dance under the Saturday fireworks.
