For the first time ever, snowguns will power the slope in winter 2025, helping to provide consistent snowy conditions all season long.

It’s the ultimate winter playground for families, kids, and anyone chasing that magical winter feeling, and best of all, the experience is free for all to enjoy.

Whether the snow falls from the sky or is crafted by the new snowguns, the toboggan slope will open as soon as there’s enough of the fluffy white stuff.

What’s New?

Tobogganing at Hotham has had a serious upgrade since last season.

Not only will there be more snow for more sliding, thanks to the new snowguns, but there’s also a new booking system in place to help everyone get their turn on the slope. With all the exciting changes, this spot is set to be a winter favourite, so be sure to book your session early and lock in your snow day fun.

Here’s how to get sliding: 1. Book a free 50-minute session online; 2. Hire an approved toboggan from any resort outlet; 3. Hit the slope and let the good times slide.

When and where to go

The Wire Plain Toboggan Park will be open daily from 10am to 4pm, pending snow and weather conditions.

It is conveniently located just four kilometres from Hotham Central.

Getting there is easy, thanks to the free village buses that stop at Bus Stop 12 every 10 minutes from sunrise to sunset.

For those driving in for the day, Wire Plain Car Park (Car Park 9) offers day parking right next to the toboggan park.

More than just tobogganing

After 50 minutes of high-energy tobogganing, there’s still plenty more to explore at Mt Hotham.

Families can try snowshoeing through the beautiful trails through snowgums, enjoy a husky sled ride, have a snowball fight, or simply relax and soak up the wonder of the alpine atmosphere.

This brand-new facility will take your snow day to the next level, offering a cosy public shelter, a café serving warm drinks and snacks, and a rental shop stocked with all your snow gear essentials.
